ChatGPT explained my medical test results before my follow-up appointment
My doctor ordered a blood panel and sent me a copy of the results. There were a dozen markers I didn't recognise and several that were flagged as outside the normal range. My follow-up appointment was five days away and I was anxious the whole time. I typed the results into ChatGPT and asked it to explain what each marker meant, what the flagged ones typically indicate, and what questions I should ask my doctor. It was very clear upfront that it wasn't giving me medical advice and I shouldn't self-diagnose. But it explained the markers in plain English, which helped me stop catastrophising. It also gave me a list of specific questions to ask โ which made the appointment much more productive. Turns out most of the flagged results were minor and not concerning in my context. But going in informed made a huge difference to my anxiety.
