It restructured my experience, pulled out things I hadn't thought to mention (I'd trained new volunteers, handled cash, managed opening shifts), and wrote a summary section that actually sounded like me — just a more confident version. I got an interview. Then the job.

AI fixed a lot of this without me becoming a different person. Invoices: I describe the work done and the agreed rate. ChatGPT formats it into a proper invoice document with all the right elements. I copy into my template and send. Client emails: I know what I want to say, I just couldn't always say it professionally. Now I write my rough version and ask AI to make it professional while keeping my meaning. Works really well. Contracts: when I get asked to do a bigger project I use AI to help me draft a simple agreement. Not a lawyer — for anything significant I get legal review. But for smaller jobs, having something written beats having nothing. The business side of my career feels more under control than it has in 15 years of freelancing. I'm getting paid faster because my invoices are clear. I'm winning more work because my emails are better. Small things, real difference.
